Interactive Stations
Students are encourage to participate! There will be a variety of interactive stations for students to visit on the 1st Tour (between 10AM and 11AM) and the 2nd Tour (11AM and Noon) in each of the hemispheres. Choice of which stations the students would like to participate in is based on their interest. The interactive stations will be:
- International Folk Crafts
- Stamps from around the World
- Names written in various Languages
- Learn International Dances
- Karate demonstration and participation
- Pittsburgh History Corner
- International Food Kitchens
- Cultural Exhibits
- International Bazaar
Around the World in 60 Minutes
At noon, all students will return to the Main Stage tables to watch "Around the World in 60 Minutes". This will be a one-hour show featuring performances by: The World of Children (Children's International Signing Group), Carpatho-Rusyn, Hawaii, Scotland, Greece, China, India, Ireland, Philippines, Germany and Russia (Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School).
A few final comments
Once registered for the program, schools will be assigned to a Group and where possible, schools/grades will be kept together in a group. After payment is received, schools will receive a packet in the US Mail with additional details such as a map of the venue for student drop off/pick up, bus parking information, arrival times, etc.
Upon arrival on the day of the program, teachers will receive a packet at the entrance to distribute to each of their students that includes:
- A passport. Students have their passports "stamped" by the various countries they visit during the program.
- Vouchers for samples of foods at each of ethnic food kitchens. Additional foods, drinks (water & pop) will be available for purchase at the international food court or Convention Center concession stands. Food menus are priced for this program so that students can purchase an ethnic meal for $5 or under.
- Additional Folk Festival promotional items
Students are encouraged to bring cameras and to take pictures! Interactive stations have been organized to accommodate multiple age groups and skill levels.
Students will have the opportunity to shop in an International Bazaar and buy ethnic items as well as be able to purchase lunch from the international kitchens during the, "Around the World in 60 Minutes" performance from 12 till 1PM.
