Mission Statement

The mission of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival Inc, is to promote unity in cultural diversity by:

  • Preserving and perpetuating the cultures of Western Pennsylvania
  • Organizing, promoting and presenting an annual Folk Festival to showcase those cultures
  • Providing educational, cultural and service activities in areas such as folk music and dance, arts and crafts, exhibits and demonstrations, and ethnic cuisine.
  • Promoting awareness and tolerance of diverse cultures
The Pittsburgh Folk Festival Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that began in 1956 with seven nationalities whose purpose was to promote "Unity in Diversity" by presenting an annual festival of cultures. The festival now highlights the cultural diversity of more than 25 nationalities in the Pittsburgh area.
